HONOR

Neighbors Nomadas is a traveling lifespan doula service and community care initiative providing holistic, non-medical support for rural people and spaces. We come to you — whether that means arriving at your doorstep, staying on-site through a significant passage, traveling alongside you on a meaningful journey, or connecting remotely for services that can be delivered from a distance. We follow the doula model of care: non-medical, non-judgmental, holistic, and family-centered support that empowers individuals and families to navigate life's most significant passages. What we provide is presence, practical assistance, emotional support, proactive guidance, and logistical and physical support — offered on a sliding scale model so that meaningful care is never out of reach.

tHE vALUES OF nEIGHBORS

NEIGBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS

Well being and resilience are built with relationships, not borders — connecting the circles that hold you and honoring the legacies that guide you, fostering interdependent community care.

PERSON CENTERED

Every person is the primary architect of their own journey. Every decision, every plan, and every act of support is rooted in their specific values, priorities, and wishes. We follow your lead and meet you where you are at.

LIVE WELL DIE WELL

To live well and to die well are not separate goals, they are the same journey. This "dying into life" is embodied in our healing approach: embracing one's losses, changes, grief, and renewals as practice for the final journey - frees us to live more fully in every moment before it.

The Doula Model of Care

Non-Medical Support

Doulas refrain from giving medical advice or performing any clinical or medicalized tasks. This is fundamental to the role.

Non-Judgmental Support

Care is based on the client's values and goals, even if those differ from values cherished by the doula.

The individual and their family are the focus of support. Doulas work in a spirit of collaboration, not replacement.

Holistic Care

Doulas recognize the bio-psycho-social and spiritual aspects of the whole person and provide services in the context of this understanding.

Empowerment

Doulas promote informed decision-making and foster maximum self-determination, encouraging self-efficacy and self-advocacy rather than dependency.

Family-Centered

Team Members

Doulas are collaborators who work alongside other care providers, deferring to medical experts while providing much-needed continuity of care across the full continuum.
